Weekly Support Groups

Weekly Support Groups are available for people with cancer and for their adult family and friends. These are committed groups that are facilitated by licensed professionals.

Patient Groups:
Mondays, 11 am – 1 pm
Tuesdays, 6 – 8 pm

Friends & Family Group:
Tuesdays, 6 – 8 pm

Drop-In Support Groups

These specialized groups for people with a cancer diagnosis are facilitated by licensed professionals and do not require ongoing commitment.

  • Life Beyond Cancer

    Designed for people who have completed their primary treatment for cancer, this group will address transitioning to life after treatment and finding the “new normal.”

    First Monday of the month, 6-7:30 pm

  • Metastatic Cancer Group

    Join others faced with the specific challenges of Metastatic Cancer.

    At CSC: Second and Fourth Wednesday of every month, 10am – 12pm

    At St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea: Second Monday of every month, 1pm – 2:30pm

    At St. Joseph Mercy Bighton: Fourth Tuesday of every month, 6pm- 7:30pm

  • Prostate Cancer Group

    This group offers the opportunity to connect with others to discuss some of the unique challenges and concerns associated with prostate cancer.

    First Wednesday of the month 6 – 7:30 pm

  • Breast Cancer Support Group

    This group offers the opportunity to connect with others to discuss some of the unique challenges and concerns associated with breast  cancer.

    Second and Fourth Wednesday of the month 6 – 8 pm

  • Ovarian Cancer Support Group

    Women dealing with ovarian cancer and its effects often have unique questions and concerns. Join others with similar experiences in this professionally facilitated group. This monthly group is aimed at giving women in treatment or in remission from ovarian cancer an opportunity to connect with one another.

    Third Wednesday of every month, 6 – 7:30 pm

  • Blood Cancer Support Group

    Join others facing the unique challeges of living with blood cancer diagnosis in this monthly, drop-in support group. This professionally-facilitated group is open to any adult diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.

Series Support Groups

  • Moving Beyond Breast Cancer

    This 6-week series is designed for women who have completed primary treatment for breast cancer. This professionally-facilitated series includes support, education, exercise, and other tools to help transition into the “new normal.” Topics include nutrition, body image, relationships, health
    maintenance, lymphedema, sexuality, and more.

  • Grief Support Group

    This 4-session, bi-weekly series offers the opportunity to join others who have lost a loved one to cancer, to talk and to gain support. May 11 & 24, June 8 & 22 6-7:30pm. RSVP


  • FOCUS: Facing Cancer Together

    This 6-week program focuses on improving communication, emotional support, and quality of life for people with cancer and their partners.

  • Kid Support, Teen Time, and Parenting Support

    Kid Support, Teen Time, and Parenting Support This 4-week series is developed especially for kids and teens who have a parent or loved one with cancer or who have cancer themselves. Divided by age, this program offers children and teens an opportunity to make friends and learn skills to help them when cancer is in their lives. Parent group held concurrently.

Community Connections

Join others who are facing similar challenges in these peer-led discussion groups.

  • African American Fellowship

    Connect with other African Americans in our community that are dealing with cancer. Friends and family members are welcome. Dinner is provided.

Online Support

The Cancer Support Community’s online “Living Room” provides a place where anyone impacted by cancer can find support, education and hope. Here you will find more than 20 professionally-moderated cancer message boards, a special space for teens impacted by cancer, and the ability to keep family and friends up-to-date on personal web pages.
