Amazing Race Update: Pausing in 2026, Returning in 2027

We’re sharing an important update regarding the Amazing Race, and we want to begin by sincerely thanking everyone who has been part of this event over the years—racers, participants, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and friends. Your continued support has helped ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

As we enter our 18th year, we need to share an important change. Due to recent auto insurance law changes in Michigan, the Amazing Race will pause in 2026. During this time, we will be thoughtfully reimagining the event to ensure it complies with new rules and regulations.

Preserving what makes the Amazing Race so special is our top priority. From racing through town and laughing through challenges to solving clues alongside teammates, these moments are exactly what we’re working to protect. The Amazing Race has always been a unique, family-friendly, and accessible experience, and we remain committed to its welcoming atmosphere, broad community appeal, and fun, light-hearted competition. Team-based problem-solving, creative challenges, and playful activities will continue to be at the heart of the event.

The fun isn’t going anywhere. This pause gives us the opportunity to build on the Amazing Race’s long-standing history of excitement, challenge, and connection as we plan for a refreshed return in 2027.

We truly appreciate your patience and continued support, and we look forward to welcoming both longtime and new participants back for another incredible event.

We’d also love your input. If you have ideas, feedback, photos, or favorite memories from past races—or if you’d like to be involved in shaping the next chapter—please reach out to Christian at 734-975-2500 or Christian@cancersupportannarbor.org.

While the engines may idle this year, we’re excited for the adventures ahead.

Thank you from all of us at the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor, our leadership team, and the incredible Amazing Race Committee.
